The Magical Classroom, for all you teachers

Just found this on the Creative Review blog and thought I'd post it as well as it concerns teachers and a lot of my friends seem to be teachers so there.

Really nice animation and execution on this little film. Hopefully some of you front of the class types might appreciate it. If you do, let me know, there's hardly any comments on 'ere! Honestly, I don't know why I bother...

The Beauty and the Bustle

I went for a look around an exhibition in my hometown of Telford last week entitled 'The Beauty and the Bustle'. It was by two artists, Becky Lance and Harriet Sullivan, who had produced pieces that were, amongst others, inspired by the Shropshire countryside and it's lovely little towns. I grew up in Telford which wasn't the prettiest place to live and you sometimes took for granted how beautiful the countryside around it was. When I moved away I really missed being able to nip out towards Ludlow and Much Wenlock on a day out and to have a quick pint in Coalbrookdale. I presume these two feel similarly about.

What was also great about it was that two locals had showed the enthusiasm and creativity to put on a exhibition that had a contemporary feel to it. Telford isn't known for it's artists. It's known for roundabouts, shit nightclubs, and an ice rink so it's good to know that some people back in Telford are keeping the creativity flowing, nice one...

University of Hertfordshire Degree Show

I paid a visit to the University's degree show the other week and was very impressed with some of the work I saw. Top of the pile was Poonam Mistry on the illustration course. The work was incredible and I spent a good while taking it all in; the intricacy and beauty of the work was inspiring. I've also just seen that Poonam's work was displayed at D&AD New Blood so nice one!

This work was by Jonny Flynn (superhero name). It was the type of work I'd wish I'd done myself so I always use that as a good gauge when looking at peoples work. The piece below is an alternative world map where the countries are illustrated by how strong their currency is in pence.

Good old amusing photos

Hello friends,

Saw these the other day and... well I liked them enough to take a photo of them. Saw this one in Bala, a small town in Mid Wales while on a stag do. The stable ones are always the best, good for resting a plate on...
And saw this cheeky chappy in a traffic jam on the M6. It was before the world cup so he hadn't got his England flag on it yet bless him...

Logos Finished!

So, I've finally managed to finish all the logos I need for the High Street project and would have to say I'm pretty happy with them. Accross the five High Streets I'm focusing on I've had to create a total of 97 logos for all the businesses and services that are there.

I'll also be screenprinting these on Tuesday so can't wait to see the finished article. What I also can't wait for is the World Cup. I've drawn Denmark in the sweepstake at work so at least that will make watching Denmark 5% more interesting in the group stages.

Hope you like the logos, they'll be going onto T-Shirts in the near future so tell me which ones you like and it's yours... for a small charge.
